This work was created for AdMental and due to the requirements of the brief, it required a lot of critical and creative thinking. The brief required a poster and Facebook banner that advertises the event of AdMental. Therefore, it was important to represent AdMental and not depict stereotypical mental health graphics while still representing the idea of talking about mental health or what is on one’s mind. This challenge on advertising the event rather than depicting mental health required pushing variations throughout the creative process which eventually led me to my final design.
My concept focuses on questioning how the viewer thinks and if others think the same way, then encourages them to hear more about mental attitude. The words “are you thinking what I’m thinking” represents and reflects the moment when to like-minded figures have the same great idea, which in this case suggests attending the event of AdMental.
I particularly enjoyed working around the complexity of the brief and producing a unique concept that got to the heart of the brief. It also encouraged me to explore outside my design comfort area and investigate design areas such as expressive typography. Through this process it enhanced and solidified my opinion on the significance of typography within a work.
